Habitat
TABAGRO IS IN THE HEART OF THE LARGEST NATURAL RESERVATION IN THE MIDDLE EAST.
Ammmiq is a region made of reedbeds and open pools that cover 253 ha, stretching east from the foot of the mountains to the Litani River in a long strip. Ammiq is a region that was known historically for its agricultural lands.
Many civilizations had already cultivated those lands for food throughout history especially since this region has many natural sources of fresh water along with the unique soil texture and climate. Among the known civilizations that had settled in that area are the Romans and Ottomans.
Ammiq is also known as one of the largest natural reserves in the middle east. With the existing strict regulations, this region had been preserving many species of local and emigrant animals along with the rich flora. It lies on one of the most important bird migration routes in the world, and over 250 species of birds have been recorded in the area, including the globally vulnerable Great Spotted Eagle Aquila clanga, Imperial Eagle Aquila heliaca, and Lesser Kestrel Falco naumanni.
Records of globally near-threatened bird species at the wetland include Great Snipe Gallinago media, Ferruginous Duck Aythya nyroca and Pallid Harrier Circus macrourus.
Our operations are adjacent to much of the wetland area and it is an honor that we take very seriously. We work with our conservation partners to proactively manage wetland habitats to maximize value for waterfowl and other migratory birds that depend on them.
Today, there is a promising outlook for a climbing population of approximately 4,000 individuals, largely due to continued efforts by state and federal wildlife management agencies.
